We teach Kuk Sool Won to all ages from 5 up. We tailor our teaching methods to each age group and place great importance on catering to individual needs within a group setting.
Kids | 5-8 Year Olds
Our program for young kids is specifically designed to focus on the development of self-esteem and self-confidence in a creative, playful and safe environment. We believe in helping your children extend their capabilities, physically and mentally, through what Kuk Sool Won Cork has to offer. In learning martial arts with us, your kids learn to work individually and as part of a team.
Active listening and Concentration
We teach using games and activities that help develop their active listening skills and sense of discipline. Similarly we teach about taking care of class mates and respect for personal space. We place great emphasis on respect and politeness while having fun with learning.
What will learning Kuk Sool Won do for my kids?
At Kuk Sool Won Cork, our young students are introduced to basic martial arts moves, designed to enhance their concentration and their recall skills. They develop balance and coordination. Consistent martial arts practice enables them to build a sense of independence and self-confidence through activities designed to develop their facility for cooperation, teamwork and a positive attitude.

We Need More Practice
In our classes we start teaching kids, gently at first, how to take responsibility for their own learning. If they want to learn, they have to practice. If they practice they will learn. We spend a lot of time talking about this with the kids from early on, instilling them with a sense of ownership of their own learning that grows with them. This is perhaps one of the biggest benefits of Kuk Sool Won as it filters into how we all approach everything we do.
Kids | 9-12 Years
The older kids program in Kuk Sool Won Cork is designed to provide them with a strong foundation in martial arts, focused on the learning of traditional forms, correct falling techniques, self-defense techniques and basic acrobatics. Our aim is to challenge them physically and mentally, while helping them to develop skills that will help them in real life.
As with our younger “Kuk Soolers”, we teach the older kids in a way which develops and hones active listening, concentration, and respect for peers (class-mates and instructors alike). Our classes for 9-12 year olds also focus on developing flexibility, muscle building, concentration, and self-control.
Our classes work within the framework of the Kuk Sool Won syllabus. We also use games as part of our teaching and for fitness, because you’re never too old to play, right?
Our Teen classes provide Kuk Sool Won students with an opportunity to learn an intricate art form that develops physical fitness and flexibility. It is also offers them the opportunity to learn an extremely effective form of self-defense.

What will I learn?
Through the practice of traditional forms, correct falling techniques, self-defense techniques, weapons training and basic acrobatics, you will build aerobic stamina, increased physical strength, improved coordination and flexibility, as well as learning self-control and respect for others.
Build Self-Confidence And Lose Self-Consciousness
We teach you about how confidence forms the bedrock of self-defense and general wellbeing, through Kuk Sool Won and its methodology (traditional forms provide a prime example: eyes bright mind clear). As you get older, we teach you about how to adapt and utilize your martial art training in a way that has a positive impact on your life beyond the Dohjang.
Although we drop the Dodge-ball and games for our teen classes, we do ensure a playful nurturing learning environment so that you feel free to try new things. It might be a kick or a break-fall, a wrist-lock or an acrobatic move. Whatever you are learning, we teach it in such a way you feel confident enough to drop any self-consciousness and really go for it.
